That fill is commonly used today by punk rock drummers,..sure Stewart's innovative idea influenced young drummers. I adopted that fill and use mostly in my playing on fast tempo.

Saw Steve Smith several times doing Drum clinics in the early 80s when he was still with Journey. I asked him about the creative process for coming up with these unique drum parts . He said the band had a soundproof rehearsal space and Oakland. They would meet at 4 PM and rehearse till midnight. The guys would leave a tape of the rehearsal for him. He would stay afterwards by himself to create these great drum parts. 👍

Jared, are this the updated version of the TD 27 without any tweaking? Just bought the 27 but having a hard time getting good cymbal sounds.

Thanks a lot for the transcription but I think it is not quite right. In the song, you can hear that the bass drum does not start the on 1 but on the third sixteenth-note triplet. Henrik plays a 16th note lick on the beat before and Aron catches the last 16th note and then starts the phrase. Aron plays the Splash cymbal always with the first bass drum accent of the phrase (can see that on the UA-cam video of Follow The Light). Thank you for counting out that first little fill. As a beginner I need to count. However with this song it looks like it's easier to just play along the the riff and focus on the sticking as you mentioned. I keep hearing this is a good song for beginners but it's actually harder than I thought.
